Written In Wax

The sound engineer is ready,
The musicians are set,
Now, the genius of artist and engineer!
I found a treasure house of music,
Music literally written in wax,
Amplified electrically,
And I see a record made.

I am the Edison Phonograph,
Created by the great wizard of the New World,
I can sing you tender songs of love,
I can give you merry tales and joyous laughter,
I can transport you to the realms of music,
I am the Edison Phonograph,
I can cause you to join in the rhythmic dance,
I can lull the babe to sweet repose,
Or waken in the aged heart,
Soft memories of youthful days.
No matter what may be your mood,
I am always ready to entertain you,
I am the Edison Phonograph,
I am a genuine Edison Phonograph,
When your day's work is done,
I can bring the theatre or the opera to your home,
I can give you grand opera, comic opera or vaudeville,
I can give you sacred or popular music,
Dance, orchestra or instrumental music,
I can render solos, duets,
Trios, quartets,
I can aid in entertaining your guests,
I am the Edison Phonograph,
I am a genuine Edison Phonograph,
I give pleasure to all, young and old,
I will go wherever you want me,
In the parlour, in the sickroom, on the porch,
In the camp or to your summer home.
If you sing or talk to me,
I will retain your songs or words,
And repeat them to you at your pleasure,
I can enable you to always hear the voices of your loved ones,
Even though they are far away,
I am the Edison Phonograph,
I talk in every language,
I can help you to learn other languages,
I am made with the highest degree of mechanical skill,
My voice is the clearest, smoothest,
And most natural of any talking machine,
The name of my famous master is on my body,
and tells you that I am a genuine Edison phonograph.
I am the Edison Phonograph,

Let us follow through the step and the processes,
In transmitting, Or sending radio messages,
First of all, the sound waves produced by the announcer,
Are picked up by the microphone,
Which is one element in the transmitter circuit,
This circuit requires a source of electrical energy,
All sound sources set the molecules of air into vibration,
In such a manner as to produce waves which travel through the air,
The radio brings into the home,
The school room, and the office,
Music by leading artists,
And news of world events,
The radio is one of the outstanding developments of the 20th century,
With modern radio sending and receiving equipment,
It is possible to establish communication instantaneously,
Commercial and military aviation depend on radio,
The coastguard and the navy,
Army tank operations are directed by radio,
Radio waves are sent out in all directions,
Which travel out into space with a speed of 186,000 miles a second,
Radio waves are sent out in all directions,
And travel out into space with the speed of light,
The radio brings into the home,
The hospital, and the office,
Drama by outstanding actors,
Speeches by men in public life,
Together with weather and market reports,
The radio is one of the outstanding developments of the 20th century,
With modern radio sending and receiving equipment,
It is possible to establish communication instantaneously,
From any place,
At any time,
From any place,
At any time,
From any place, at any time,
From any place, at any time,
From any place,
From any place,
From any place, at any time,
The radio brings into the home,
The school room, the hospital, and the office,

Point Cove Scotland, UK
I grew up in the Isle Of Lewis. From a young age I've enjoyed music and started playing the guitar when I was about 11,
instantly finding joy in writing songs.
At the age of 22 I took up the banjo and glockenspiel to form an Indie-folk band with my flatmate.
Now I'm 35 years old and I still love writing songs. I want to share the music with others who will hopefully appreciate my efforts.
